SONGSTERS
(143 volumes)
These volumes range in date from the early 18th century to the 1880s,
and include some church music. Songsters containing the "Anacreontic
Song" and "The Star Spangled Banner" are of considerable
interest. Some unusual songsters are Kentucky Harmony of 1826; Social
Harmony by Asahel Benham of 1798; and Complete Modern Songster, Philadelphia,
1806, the only known complete copy. An amusing item is Pills To Purge
Melancholy, in 6 volumes, London, 1719–20.
